MAKI NEKO BOT
SCHOOL CONCEPT ART PROJECT • 2022
“Maki Neko Bot” is a 4th grade concept art exercise. It was the first time we did such detailed concept art. The theme was “the cook robot”.
I decided to take the Japanese Maneki Neko and twist it to make a food processor. I was entirely inspired by Japanese culture for this project, given that it is a technologically very advanced country. It's a robot capable of making sushi and bringing it to the table. It has a wheel that can turn on itself, allowing it to move as it wishes. The screen on his eyes allows him to display the menus and choose his dish, which he makes himself. In his lower abdomen, there is a compartment where he stores his ingredients. In his stomach, there is a mechanism allowing the ingredients to rise and thanks to the glass you can see how he makes his makis and sushi. If you press on its paw, a napkin will comes out. From his whiskers come Japanese chopsitcks and his ears are the salty and sweet soy sauces that you can unscrew to use it.
I LOVED this exercise. I discovered a real passion for concept art. Thinking about making a coherent design in relation to the usefulness of the object is really something that I love to do and I think I am very good at it because the concept art of my robot is very coherent in relation to its usefulness, nothing is left to chance in its design. I hope to be able to move towards concept art in the future.
ALL ASPECTS
• To create detailed and coherent concept art
• Leave nothing to chance in a design
• Concept Art ► I think my concept art is of a very good level. Quite honestly, I wouldn't know what to improve. I think that in the future I will continue to think carefully about my concepts and design, so that they are not gratuitous and consistent with their functions
WHAT I LEARNED ?
WHAT CAN I IMPROVE IN MY FUTURE PROJECTS ?
